Make do and Mend

Dear Charlie

I’m so glad that the dry spring weather has arrived at last.

Three or four weeks ago, during all that rain, I went shopping in the local market. Despite the weather the stalls were crowded with people and most of us had our umbrellas up.

Imagine my dismay when I got home and found a human eyeball firmly embedded on the tip of one of the ribs of my brolly. My first instinct was to put an advert in the local paper so that the owner could come and claim it. But my hubby, a Do It Yourself enthusiast said, “No,” he had a better idea.

He then painted it with clear waterproof varnish and Super-glued it onto the Neighbourhood Watch warning at the bottom of our close where it looks fantastic.

He’s so clever. I do love him.
